Introduction

The Zhyler lexicon and corpus is a semi-interactive corpus of sentences in Zhyler along with their English translations. The way it works is that I type in a Zhyler sentence and type in its English translation. At that point, the sentences are stored, and each word becomes a link, such that if you click on the link, you'll find every sentence that word appears in. Pretty neat, huh?

As Zhyler has a lot of cases (and, as a result, a lot of different manifestations of the same lexeme), there will undoubtedly be a bunch of redundant items in the lexicon. Nevertheless, the hope is that by browsing sentences, it'll give everyone a fuller understanding of just how Zhyler works. We'll see how well this page lives up to that goal.

The general format for these pages is you can click on any word (English or Zhyler) to find all the sentences in this corpus that use that word. Since each word has many different forms, clicking on the English word will probably get you more sentences. The script would have to learn Zhyler, I suppose, for you to be able to click on the accusative of "snake" and get all instances of the lexeme "snake", regardless of case or number. I figure what's here is good enough, for my purposes.

As a quick note, I'd like to thank Gary Shannon for providing the source code this page runs on. It came from the site Gary created for the Kalusa language, which Gary has wiped off the face of the Earth. For more information, go here.

With that, I'll leave you to your perusing. If you have a comment, send it my way. Ain't nothing better than comments. Heh, heh...
